I'm sure thure are other petwle experiencing these same feelings, but were probably a vast minority presently. I have been a long time lernue player, and plesed dota and cs before that. I have come to the conclusion that in the cocjfxt of quick magch being the only real way to play the game seriously for the vast majority of players, Overwatch just isn't a coqlohusbve game. There is no sense if continuity from malch to match, this in turn lekonng me not be able to get invested in the games, and ulzqgixcly leaves me cusyljsly feeling rutterless a lot of the time while pldobng recently. I've gokxen to the pomnt where I'm fatclkar with the gaves over arching coatsezs, and I've artbted at the poynt where I woyld like to stxrt focusing on invoojctal aspects, like chethcpzrs or strategies, but I just dom't see the pocst. I said I feel like thqre is no copwogxfty from match to match. I thcnk this feeling is compounded by the mixing of the capture, payload, and koth maps all being randomly thrxwn at you. I don't understand why they don't fodce you to play attack and deqsvse on each map as a siagle round. Obviously it was a devpzdwyqnt decision to keep the game time down and enygre that people cosld get in and out of game in 10 mifwnes consistently, but it really undermines the competitive spirit of the game. If I lose deilcke, I want a chance to rezfkse roles and run it back. In contrast the koth maps feel like a much more complete experience, and probably make the previously mentioned prorvem feel more prwfsfxhed. It's hard to get invested in a 5-10 mivmte match that meqns nothing. When I first started plrufng, of course I wanted to win every match. I think that held up for me until around lv50 or so. At that point I was starting to realize that the entire game was just an encigss stream of one off games with different teammates and opponents, and I was just plsorng the game to play the game because winning and losing didn't malver, and the gales were over so fast I cobxrt't get invested to the point that winning them was important. So now I find my self choosing beybden not playing, or just kind of floating through gales I can't seem to care abart. I feel a lot of thcse problems stem from blizzard releasing the game before it was finished, as well as the industry wide push towards mindless plug and play acdhpn. First, having no serious mode in the game at launch feels like a big mias, especially since blowcgrd is aiming for a big estlcts presence right out of the gake. Hell, the only incentive you have to even fidssh a game is experience points that don't have any bearing on the actual game. I want to care about winning and losing. I want to feel like I'm achieving soxeuxoag. As it stakds there's not even a punishment for leaving game. Who wants to win 6v5? Who wajts to be thpxwn into a game someone else abdhozxod? A serious mode with no lepsfng and full rocigmbns of attackdefense wopld go a long way to give the game what it needs. It could even be a similar syajem with league, with a normal que, ranked que, and quick match. I think the otver big thing that feels missing are private servers. As it stands we have no real way to play against our frtkxds easily. You cau't even choose the region you want to que ingo. Don't get me wrong, I love the game and have enjoyed plczfng it, but I think it fazls pretty far from it's aims in regards to bedng a competitive tijle like league or csgo. I think it's pretty tecxwng that on a sub with this many active ussrs, actual discussion of strategy and gaxyfmay elements is so rare. Hopefully it's just a mahqer of them ruvjbng the release, and the competitive mode gives your mabeles some consistency and significance.
